7:30am 1/2 grapefruit 1/2 a boiled eggs (white only). Now I don’t like to cry down this beautiful island of Barbados but the reason I only had 1/2 an egg white is because my cousin so kindly gave me some eggs that he had gotten from a fella down the road. Obviously I gratefully received them and have been attempting to eat them this past few days. Well unfortunately like a few of the other eggs I had broken, these too were not in the best of shape. Yolks turning green… sticking to the shell etc just clearly not fresh. I’ve had the best tasting eggs ever from my aunt – yolks the brightest yellow/orange I’ve ever seen. Even one was a triple yolk. But my aunt fed her chickens 🐔 well and only gave me fresh eggs. These on the other hand could have been sitting in the sun for weeks who knows… maybe a few days more they could have hatched. So right now I feel a little protein starved – may be starved is a little strong.
So whilst I like the fact there’s literally free range chickens everywhere even in my own road (I’m thinking I may start encouraging them into my garden and let them lay eggs for me) I’m going to stick to purchasing from reputable source to ensure the quality of my protein in take.
Just as a side note, do you know why eggs are kept refrigerated in the USA but in UK or Europe they are on the shelves in the supermarket?
10:30am 2cups kale/spinach 1scoop protein and 5 strawberries blended with water.
12:30pm 10 raw almonds
1:30pm 2cups green salad 🥗 with red and green sweet peppers, 1/4 cup chick peas, 1tsp sunflower and pumpkin seeds, 5 grape tomatoes 🍅 and 2tbsp balsamic vinegar dressing with 1tsp humus
2pm earl grey tea ☕️ with dash of 2%milk and NO SUGAR!! 🙌🏾
I’m super proud as I bought the tea in a coffee shop full of 🎂 and 🍪 and I was soooo tempted and even picked up a sachet of sugar but I didn’t use it – pat on the back to me!
4:30pm you see I’m a big fan of protein bars because they’re easy, as in zero prep time, generally ‘healthy’ in that they provide some protein and they’re sweeeeeet!!! So whilst I shouldn’t eat too many of them they easily replacement in my moments of weakness. But I have one which was 12g of protein at 4:30pm and then when I got home from work and was doing stuff you know sorting things out I couldn’t help myself but have another at like 5:30pm as I relaxed watching my tv programme.
So yes one of my big problems is I’m a comfort eater. It’s the first thing I do in an empty house. I struggle to relax without nibbling on something and those pesky fruit shortcake biscuits are glaring at me every time I open the fridge. I should throw them out but they are my test. To make sure I break the habit. But I think it’s better at least to binge on protein bars than snickers and m&ms or chips and dip surely?!
